Limestone Mines and The Underground Kingdom of the West Midlands

The Artist gained permission to enter the many of the limestone mines after he was commissioned by Dudley Art Gallery to produce a drawing of Wrens Nest for the proposed new interpretation centre which in the end was never built due to government cuts.
The commissioned drawing is now in Dudley Art Gallery permanent collection. The Artist discovered many mines and tunnels over a twelve month period. He went into very dangerous environments to record mankind’s endeavours in excavating limestone.
